Head of Human Resources (HR)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 - £69,798 per annum

About us

 

We are seeking a new Head of Human Resources to lead and manage the delivery of our HR service in support of ODI’s wider goals. The successful candidate will need to have extensive operational experience in a fast-paced organisation. They will have the drive and tenacity to create and successfully implement Human Resources strategies which align with ODI’s strategic objectives and reflects the changing needs, market positions and future ambitions of ODI. The post holder will input into the organisation’s strategic plan and be responsible for the delivery of all HR component outputs

The role will be responsible for overseeing the advice given by the HR Advisors to their defined client group of programmes, departments and project teams including where appropriate, members of the Senior Leadership Team. They will lead and manage the ODI HR team, role modelling optimal behaviours and engendering a team culture of learning and continuous improvement. Proactively motivate, coach, mentor and develop the team to achieve organisational and personal goals/objectives. The successful candidate will build on and maintain the excellent operational service provided by the HR team.

The role will also include coaching and advising the organisation’s senior leaders. Key relationships include; Executive Director, Director of Professional Services, Board, Senior Leadership Team, Management Group, Trade Union and the wider staff group. This will include managing the positive relationship with the Trade Union and negotiating on behalf of ODI, as required.

 

About you

 

  • CIPD qualification to Chartered Member (or actively working towards CIPD qualification with relevant equivalent experience)
  • In depth understanding & commitment to equal opportunities & diversity issues and strong commitment to applying to work
  • Knowledge of UKVI and solid understanding of immigration legislation in order to ensure organisational compliance
  • Proven substantial experience of a generalist HR role at a senior level.
  • Capable of operating both at an operational and strategic level.
  • Proven substantial experience of an operational role and of policy development
  • Experience of implementing change initiatives
  • Devising innovation solutions
  • Devising staff and management development strategies
  • Recruiting at all levels including international recruitment
  • Written policies and procedures
  • Experience of operating job evaluation scheme and managing annual pay reviews
  • Proven experience of developing HR databases and providing Management Information
  • Proven experience of budget management
  • Experience of managing, mentoring and developing staff
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Excellent drafting skills, articulate and able to
  • negotiate successfully
  • Implemented systems for maintaining confidentiality
  • Proven experience of leading projects and working as part of project teams
  • Able to prioritise own work and work of others and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to research, measure risk and create mitigation strategy necessary for robust decision making in ambiguous circumstances
